About Department:

The Department of English was established since its inception in 1963 aspires excellence. The Department of English is well-equipped with highly qualified faculty member and latest ICT enabled classrooms with SMART Board. The latest language learning software, LCD Projector, audio-visual support system facilitates teaching learning process in the department. Students opting to pursue a program in the Department of English Literature, supported by the Department of English, will have the opportunity to gain much more than just language skills. They will also delve into the literature, art, and philosophy of the culture, as well as engage in interdisciplinary
courses.

At present, the Department offers BA in English Literature. BA Honours & Hounors with research, MA and PhD courses will be commenced from the academic session 2025-26 as the college has been upgraded as Pradhanmantri College of Excellence and MA in English course has already been approved to start by the Department of Higher Education, Govt. of Madhya Pradesh. The Research centre in PhD in English Literature will be approved soon by the Barkatullah University Bhopal (MP).

The Department is committed to provide quality education, research orientation, employability, personality development etc are the shortlisted areas to be handled dexterously through course material, design of the curriculum, literary and cultural activities, programmes on personality development, seminar, PPTs, which are customized to further tribal-centric studies, more focuses on Indian Knowledge System and create the healthy learning atmosphere for students. The aim of the Department is to offer advanced, career-oriented post graduate and research programmes imparting professional knowledge, employability and life skills, as well as inculcating a vision of community growth, Indian Knowledge System and development and strong ethical values.

Vision of the Department:

1. To establish the department to be a reputed one that can provide all the required facilities to students for effective learning environment.
2. To encourage students to take up research works, project works/assignments and participative learning that enhance their academic journey.
3. To promote equity in education and social welfare.
4. To conduct webinar/seminar/conference etc.
5. To set up the Departmental Library.
6. To create e-content modules as per the requirement of the department within the prescribed framework setup by the institute.

Mission of the Department:

The mission of the Department of English is to cultivate an enriching academic environment that prioritizes excellence in education and research. The aim is to empower students with critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication skills,
preparing them to become informed global citizens and innovative thinkers in their fields.

1. To offer PG & PhD in English that equips students with advanced knowledge and critical skills in literature, linguistic and cultural studies.
2. To approve as a Research Centre and develop the Research Unit especially dedicated to preserve tribal literature and folk culture in connection with Indian Knowledge system.
3. To offer certificate and diploma courses in English to the students.
4. To ensure the publication of Departmental Journals and achievements.

In a nutshell, the department will try to add the great value to develop the department as a Centre for Excellence in Education & research fields.

1. UG Course: B.A.
2. UG Course: Personality Development as a Vocational Subject
3. PG Course: M.A. (Approved by the department and will be commenced from the academic session 2025-26)
4. Research Course: Ph.D (Approval is awaited from Barkatullah University Bhopal and most probably it will be commenced from the academic session 2025-26)
