Swami Vivekananda Govt. P.G. College, Harda (MP) (formerly Government Arts and Commerce P.G. College, Harda) was established in 1963. This is the lead college of the Harda district which is affiliated to Barkatullah University, Bhopal M.P., and which is recognized by the University Grants Commission under 2 (f) and 12 (B) of UGC Act 1956. At present, the college offers three undergraduate courses and nine post graduate courses to enable young scholars with an equitable, holistic and quality inclusive education and impart value based knowledge amongst the students to this area. Curriculum is prepared and designed by the Central Board of Studies, Higher Education, Bhopal (M.P.).
The college provides comprehensive information to the students about its goal, vision & mission, its objectives, admission rules, courses offered, fee structure, scholarship, schemes and the available facilities through its prospectus, calendar, College Chalo Abhiyan and website. The College Administration is bound to abide by the government policy of education and the syllabi prescribed by the affiliating university.
The college offers regular undergraduate courses in B.A., B.Sc., B.Com and postgraduate courses in Commerce, Political Science, History, Economics, Hindi, Chemistry and Mathematics etc. The institution also offers self-financial courses in B.Com. with Computer Application and B.Sc. with Computer Science as well as M.Sc. in Computer Science and MA in Sociology etc. Students have independent to opt any kind of courses are available in our institution as per NEP-2020. The college is approved as a Research Centre also in the subjects of Commerce, Hindi and English.
The College is committed to provide with innovation and inclusivity by practicing value based excellence in teaching, research and other extra curriculum activities. All the faculty members are well versed and trained in their specialization with modern teaching methodologies and innovations. The college believes in Learner centric teaching methodology, research through teaching and uses various learner centric methods like Seminars, workshops, Problem solving Session, Brainstorming Group discussion, assignments and mind mapping etc. Most of the faculty members have developed E-Content NEP study materials as per the direction of the Department of Higher Education, Govt. of Madhya Pradesh for all the students. In a nutshell, the institution is committed to provide easily accessible, equitable, value based quality and interesting education and also fostering an enduring sense of discipline and dedication to work with professionally competent at national as well as in this ever changing global world.
The vision of the college is to develop as an educational hub with all modern facilities, innovations and branches of study by providing value based multidisciplinary quality education, employment oriented and more holistic development to all the students who hail mostly from the surrounding villages and from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. The college is striving continuously towards achieving this goal.
